LipSense Lipstick is a thin Liquid Lip Color

LipSense comes in many different colors and finishes: matte, sheer, sparkle, and frosts. LipSense lip colors can be layered to create new and different colors. For the first time user, LipSense is initially sold in a Lipsense Collection, which includes one LipSense liquid lip color, one moisturizing Gloss, and an Ooops! Remover. You need a remover in the event you have an Ooops! moment and need to remove the product. I use the remover more like a “corrector” for mistakes, not to actually remove the product. After wearing Lipsense for several hours it will start to break down and you can easily remove the remainder when you brush your teeth at night.

The Science Behind Lipsense Lipstick

LipSense lipstick is waterproof and does not smear off, rub off, or kiss off! It will not feather and bleed into fine lines around the lips. And, just as important it does not dry out lips. In fact, the moisture content of your lips will be increased when used properly. LipSense liquid lip color can last anywhere between 4 and 18 hours. LipSense does not contain wax.. LipSense provides natural protection from the sun by creating a shield on the lips. The formula and color pigments in LipSense help create a covering for the lips much like when you are wearing a shirt in the sun. That means the skin on lips is protected from the sun's rays by the color pigments, therefore lips are protected from harmful rays. That is just one of the reasons lips become so smooth and soft with consistent use of LipSense lipstick and the moisturizing gloss.

For maximum wearing time, LipSense should be applied in three layers:

  • 1st layer of LipSense touches the lips and the pH level of the skin will begin to break down that first layer fastest.
  • 2nd layer of Lipsense is protected by the first layer and is away from the skin's pH so it will last longer.
  • 3rd layer of Lipsense protects the second layer from the top down by keeping away friction, saliva, and the natural environment.
  • The third layer will start to break down or slowly get weakened just like the first layer, but from the top down. The second layer is in the middle between the first and third layers so it is protected by both and will last for the longest period of time.

Lipsense Lipstick - Key Ingredients and Benefits

  • SD Alcohol 40 – a cosmetic grade alcohol like an astringent so it is gentle. It evaporates quickly and allows the color pigment to bond to the skin; it keeps Lipsense bacteria-free.
  • Paeonia Suffruticosa Root Extract – a natural calming plum flower herb.
  • Hypericum Perforatum Extract – also known as St John's Wort, a natural herb used to elevate mood and treat depression.
  • Tilia Cordata Flower Extract – a natural flower extract rich in flavonoids and a powerful anti-oxidant.
  • Isodonis Japonicus Extract – Fragrant plant extract that contains terpenes, shown to have medicinal properties to soothe skin.
  • Mica – an earth mineral used to give products sparkle and shine.
  • Titanium Dioxide – an inert earth mineral used as a thickening ingredient and sunscreen in cosmetics. It protects skin from UVA and UVB radiation and is considered to have no risk of skin irritation.

LipSense Lip Color Instructions for Use

Remember to apply three thin layers of color for the longest lasting staying power. The LipSense sponge tip applicator connected to the lid of the LipSense cap of the tube has three features for application:
  • Tip – Pointed to apply LipSense as a lip liner
  • Longest Side – Used to apply LipSense to full lips
  • Shorter Side – Used to apply LipSense to thin lips.

For best results, LipSense products MUST be applied to clean, dry lips. Do not lick your lips immediately before applying Lipsense lipstick. For a more defined, finished look, use LinerSense before applying the lip color. LipSense needs to be shaken horizontally prior to application. LipSense is applied by using a layering technique. To apply properly, begin at the corner of mouth and use one long stroke to cover the entire lip. DO NOT RUB lips together. Keep lips apart, and follow the natural shape of lips starting at the outer corner of the mouth. With one continual stroke, apply one layer of LipSense from one corner to the other corner of the bottom lip, then one layer of color to the top lip. Move the applicator in one continuous direction. DO NOT rub back and forth like you would with regular lipstick. Let each layer dry for a few seconds before beginning the next layer. More isn’t always better. It is not recommended to apply more than three layers of color. When the application of the third layer of color is complete and the color has set, apply one of the LipSense Moisturizing Glosses over the final layer. Do not press lips or rub together until the moisturizing gloss has been applied. Once you apply the gloss you can rub your lips together and the Lipsense will not smear. The gloss will soak in deep into your lips unlike regular lipstick. Once the gloss soaks in, you will need to reapply. DO NOT THINK YOUR LIPS DRIED OUT. You will need to reapply the shea butter gloss frequently during the first two weeks of using Lipsense until the moisture content is built back up in your lips.

LipSense Liquid Lip colors are removed by using Ooops! Color Remover or liquid Fooops SenseCosmetics Color Remover.
